『워터스케이프_水流花開』
물(水)
워터스케이프(Water_scape)는 ‘물 풍경’으로 ‘물(水)로 그린 물(物)그림’이라는 중의적 의미를 내포하고 있다. 물은 작품의 소재, 주요 표현기법, 그리고 그 안에 함축된 의미 모두를 담는 하나의 그릇이다.
이수관지(以水觀之)
물로써 세상을 보다. 이수관지는 나의 예술관을 관통하는 핵심사상이다. 이는 장자의 이도관지(以道觀之: 도를 천지만물의 근본원리로 보는 세계관)에 근거하여 도를 물로 대치한 것이다. 노자는 도무유수(道無水有: 도는 없고 물은 있다)라 하여 모든 자연물 중에서도 물을 도(道)와 가장 가까운 것으로 삼고 만물의 이치를 물에 비유하여 설명하였다. 나의 작업은 물이라는 메타포를 통한 생명의 근원과 본질, 그리고 존재의 원형에 대한 시각적 고찰이다.
물아일체 (物我一體)
물아일체는 물(水)을 통한 물(物)과 나의 혼연일체를 뜻한다. 주체와 객체, 관념과 현실, 물질계와 정신계 등, 세상에 존재하는 모든 이항대립적 관계로부터 벗어나 사물과 내가 하나 되는 비분별지의 세계를 추구한다. 이것이 내가 물로써 물을 그리는 가장 큰 이유이다. 즉, 물의 재현적 이미지가 아닌 물자체의 속성을 드러내는 것에 초점을 둔다. 흐르는 물을 분사하여 그리는 ‘물드로잉’은 나만의 독창적인 표현기법으로, 고도의 집중력과 몰입을 요한다. 물의 완전한 통제란 불가능하기 때문에 순간의 직관과 본성에 집중한다. 서서히 의식이 사라지며 무아와 무위의 경지에 이를 때 비로소 기운이 생동하게 된다. 물과 내가 일체가 되었노라고 장담할 수는 없지만 그림을 그리는 내내 나는 물과 땀과 눈물로 범벅이 되곤 한다.
수류화개 (水流花開)
물 흐르고 꽃이 피네. 이번 전시의 부주제이자 소재를 내포한다. 이는 소동파의 ‘십팔대아라한송’중 아홉 번째 아라한에 나오는 문구(空山無人 水流花開)로 우주자연의 섭리를 의미한다. 어떤 대상을 욕구하거나 사유하지 않음(無爲)에도 불구하고 천지만물은 스스로 자기존재를 성립시키며 저절로 움직인다(自然). 따라서 모든 살아있는 존재는 물처럼 흐르고, 흐르는 모든 것은 유연하며 살아있다. 모든 존재는 꽃과 같다. 자신만의 고유한 생의 에너지를 품은 꽃이다. 나는 물과의 일체를 통해 나만의 고유한 내재적 에너지를 꽃의 형상을 빌어 드러낸다. 짙푸른 심해 속에서 피어난 물꽃은 불완전한 존재의 완전성에 대한 원초적 그리움의 은유적 표현이다. 생명을 흠뻑 머금은 물꽃은 나의 현존재의 산물이자 본성회귀에 대한 표상이다.

Water
Waterscape implies that the meaning of "water scenery " drawn with water itself. Water is one bowl that contains all; a subject matter, a main technique of expression, and a theme.
Yisugwanji (以水觀之)
The perspective is seen through water. This is the core idea running through the world of my artworks which is based on the Zanggi's main philoshopy (以 道 觀 之: seeing the world through Tao as a fundamental principle of heaven and earth, of all things). Ireplace water to Tao. But then Lao zu considered water as the closest things in nature that pararell with Tao because (道無水有: Tao is unseen, water is seen). My work is a visual study on the origin and nature of the circle of life through the metaphor of water, and presence.
Mulailche (物我一體)
Mulailche(物我一體) indicates the indispensible relationship between water and myself, through which I have tried to express one aspect of non-partitioned world without all binary oppositional relationship (subject vs. object, ideal vs. reality, material world vs. spiritual world, etc.) This is the main reason why I draw the water by water so as to put the focus on revealing the properties of water itself rather than representing images of water. "Water Drawing" is my own creative technique, drawn by spraying water. A high level of concentration and commitment is required for my work and the spontaneous process is one of the essential characteristics of Waterscape since I focus on intuition and instinct with the minimal involvement of rationality. If then, the painting is full of life. I almost become one with water, confused with transpiration and tears during the creation .
Sooryuhwagae (水流花開)
Water flows and flowers bloom. It is the subtitle of this solo exhibition implied the subject matters and the theme. This means providential nature of the universe as a phrase (空山無人 水流花開) appearing on the ninth of the Arhat from the eighteen daeahrahan song by Sodongpa who was a poet of North Song Dynasty. The universe operates by itself with no particular reasons. Therefore, all living beings flows like water, and all living is flexible and flowing. All beings are likr flowers. The flowers embraces the energy of a unique life of its own. I reveal my own unique inherent energy like a flower by being one with water. A water flower blooming our of a dark deep blue see is a metaphorical representation of the primal longing for completeness of imperfect beings. Water flower soaked life is a representation of the byproduct and the nature of my Dasein regression.
